On a movie kick and need suggestions
hey all, lately I've been watching a lot of movies. particularly movies which I "should have seen by now" because I'm tired of being the only person who hasn't. I just got done watching pretty much every Kubrick video. tonight Mara and I watched Annie Hall which was good, and I recently saw Gone Baby Gone in theatres...

anyway, what are some "classics" that you recommend? I'm not a huge fan of horror and I enjoy political drama (not in the Man of the Year sort of way, though...) or action drama movies influenced or based on moral/philosophic dilemmas. in other words, no stupid car-chasing gun-shooting (rush hour series? meh.) braindead (jay and silent bob had its moments...) movies where motives are only as deep as revenge (the punisher anyone? ew..

Annie Hall was wonderful. I've heard mixed feelings about Woody Allen. Some love everything he's done, and others hate everything he's done. What most people seem to agree on though is that Annie Hall is his best work. I'm kind of sad that it is the first movie of his I've ever seen, because I don't know that I should expect much more out of him.

Thanks for the AFI tip, I'll check out the list. As it is I've just been browsing the winners of Best Picture from a list on wikipedia. I just rented Schindler's List but I'm waiting until Mara and I are together to watch it.

I've heard a lot of mentions of Citizen Kane. I just signed up for a Netflix 1-out, unlimited account and my profile name there is Ninwa. Anybody is welcome to look me up and add me to their friends.

I'll also check out The Lookout. Consider it "added to my queue" :-)

Thanks again.
